Patti's Pantry was founded in memory of Patti Slaton, a lifelong educator and advocate for children.

Patti was born in Albertville, Ala. and was a 1973 graduate of Boaz High School. She married Richard in 1974, and then went on to pursue her education at the University of Alabama where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. She then earned her Master’s in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Alabama. 

Patti was a kindergarten teacher at Verner Elementary School and Rock Quarry Elementary, and she also taught preservice teachers at the University of Alabama. Patti was a devoted wife, mother and Nana. She loved teaching children and fostering a love of reading. 

She volunteered at Hospice of West Alabama, Manderson Cancer Center, Calvary Baptist Church, and Caring Days, and was a devoted prayer partner to many. She put the sparkle in everything. She enjoyed cooking and loved celebrating holidays; she made every event special. She especially loved taking her grandchildren to the movies, Starbucks and on road trips.
